For those born in 2011 or later, our minis program continues to grow every year as more people get their young ones involved in this great team sport with no prior experience needed. For the 2023 year, we will run a U6, U8, U10, and U12 program for kids born between 2011-2018. Kent Havoc Minor Rugby is a great opportunity for kids in our community to learn a new sport, stay sharp for winter sports and make friends along the way!
Our first practice will be starting Friday, May, 12 at 6:00pm, going forward practices will be Fridays (except for long weekends) from 6:00pm – 7:30pm.
All practices will be taking place at John McGregor Secondary School (300 Cecile Ave, Chatham, ON N7M 2C6) in Chatham.
In a safe and controlled environment, our group of volunteer coaches run fun drills teaching them the basics of the sport as well as the values of teamwork, camaraderie, and physical literacy.
Our U6, U8, U10 and U12 teams will learn the fundamentals of the game as they train for Flag Rugby. Each team's drills and expectations will be specially designed for that age group. Although practices and games will be non-contact, we will provide an option for our U12 players to learn the skills and game strategies for tackle rugby, followed by an opportunity to play in a contact tournament later in the season!
Run in-house with the occasional weekend festival, mini rugby provides a chance for them to get out of the house weekly while learning about the sport and most importantly have fun!
